I feel your pain. For me to get my stock color for the 67 Bug, it’s hella expensive. 12oz spray can 20 bucks. a gallon for 330.

The most I’ve paid for cans of spray paint was like... $14 or some such? Weld-thru primer that I didn’t feel like taking the time to get cheaper elsewhere.
